The Metaphysical Throw Down (a.k.a. What is Hillel about?)

Hi, Hillel here. We're that organization that your parents bugged you about. We're that building that you may have been dragged to after your campus tour. You probably think you have a good idea of what we're all about. Take another look.

Contrary to what you may think, Hillel isn't here to tell you what to do. Hillel isn't here to tell you what to eat, what to think or who to sleep with. Hillel is here to help you "do Jew" whatever that means to you.

If that means you want to just hang out with other people who are Jewish or are interested in Judaism, we have social events. If that's means you want to come to holidays, we have services. If that means you would like to dance the Hora on a pogo stick, blind folded. Well, we could probably get grant money for you to do that.

Think of Hillel as your tool box. To borrow a term from the D.A.R.E. program-Hillel is your "enabler" (in a good way.) Check out our events.You will see that we've got some great things going on.

You think there's something that you'd like to see here and isn't? Call us up, send us an email, make smoke signals, let us treat you to a cup of coffee, communicate to us in some way what it is that you would like to do.

Because Hillel isn't here for your parents, or your Bubbe, or your Rabbi, or anyone who has their own idea about what you should be doing. No. Hillel is here for you. Make it yours.
